Cooperation between the University of Gdańsk and the EXPERYMENT Science Centre in Gdynia

On 12 December 2016 a cooperation agreement was signed between the University of Gdańsk and the EXPERYMENT Science Centre in Gdynia. The agreement concerns cooperation in the field of popularising science and knowledge, and the exchange of experience in didactics as well as organising joint educational and scientific undertakings.

Both sides declared a willingness to organise joint events to popularise science, to make it possible for staff to exchange experiences to develop didactic processes through lectures, consultations and participation in events, as well as to enable students of the University of Gdańsk to take part in practice and internships at the EXPERYMENT Science Centre. As part of the agreement, joint publications and educational and development projects will be prepared, for which the University of Gdańsk in conjunction with the EXPERYMENT Science Centre will obtain funds as part of national, European or other projects.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the University of Gdańsk by Prof. Piotr Stepnowski, Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation, with Ms Ewa Jasińska, the centre’s Director, signing on behalf of the EXPERYMENT Science Centre.

Professor UG Dr hab. Wiesław Laskowski, Vice-Dean for Research and Development at the UG’s Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics was appointed co-ordinator for the University of Gdańsk, and the EXPERYMENT Science Centre will be represented by assistant director Natalia Grzywacz-Leszkowska.

As Professor Laskowski stated: The EXPERYMENT Science Centre in Gdynia is an independent cultural institution, the first of its kind in the region, whose purpose is to popularise science amongst all age groups by using interactive games. Thanks to this co-operation we wish to combine the energy of the university, where science begins, with the possibilities offered by the centre, which through its mission can effectively reach out to children, the young and adults alike.
