Scientists from the UG’s Faculty of Chemistry co-author a publication on research into the Zika virus enzyme
For the first time ever, the substrate specifics of the Zika virus protease have been discovered, thanks to cooperation between scientists from three scientific institutions: the University of Gdańsk (Natalia Gruba, Magdalena Wysocka, Adam Lesner), Wrocław University of Science and Technology (Renata Grzywa, Maria Łęcka, Marcin Skoreński, Marcin Sieńczyk) and the Jagiellonian University (Jose Ignacio Rodriguez Martinez, Michał Burmistrz, Krzysztof Pyrć).
The data obtained will allow for the development of successful medication to inhibit Zika infections. The pioneering paper devoted to this issue has appeared in FEBS Letters.
