Workshops “HealthCAMPUS – Innovative Health Solutions” at the University of Gdańsk
On 21 October 2016, as part of the German Week in Gdańsk, the University of Gdańsk hosted workshops on the health protection policy, entitled “HealthCAMPUS – Innovative Health Solutions”, co-organised by BioCon Valley GmbH from Greifswald in Germany and the Technology Transfer Centre of the University of Gdańsk. Amongst the active participants in the event were the University’s Vice-Rector for Development, Prof. Dr hab. Krzysztof Bielawski and the acting Director of the Technology Transfer Centre, Dr Karol Śledzik.
Participants in the workshops were able to see the possibilities connected with the cooperation as part of the partnership between Eastern Pomerania and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Germany. The University of Gdańsk, together with the Medical University of Gdańsk (The Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk) and representatives of BioCon Valley GmbH had previously had the chance to cooperate as part of ScanBalt, an organisation which brings together Baltic countries and regions, represented by academic circles within the life sciences, as well as companies operating in the domain of health and broadly defined bioeconomics. Vice-chairman of ScanBalt is Prof. Dr hab. Krzysztof Bielawski and the regional ScanBalt Liaison Office is run by the UG’s Technology Transfer Centre.
The “HealthCAMPUS – Innovative Health Solutions” workshops presented selected issues and possible platforms of cooperation in projects concerning electronic medical documentation and telemedicine. New technological achievements in the field of e-Health constitute an extremely important element of contemporary public health by contributing to an improvement in the state of a population’s health and facilitating indirect access to highly specialised medical care.
