Cooperation agreement between the University of Gdańsk and the Belarusian State University in Minsk
An exchange of visiting professors and students is the main joint activity of the University of Gdańsk and the Belarusian State University in Minsk as part of the recently signed cooperation agreement.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the University of Gdańsk by the Rector Prof. Jerzy Piotr Gwizdała and on behalf of the Belarusian State University in Minsk by its Vice-Rector Prof. Siarhej Pazniak.
The Belarusian delegation was headed by the Vice-Rector of the Belarusian State University in Minsk Prof. Siarhej Pazniak and the signing was also attended by the Belarusian Consul General to Gdańsk Siarhej Michniewicz. The universities will be involved mainly in the exchange not only of visiting professors but also students. The parties discussed the perspectives for both universities joining the One Belt and One Road Initiative i.e. the new Silk Road to integrate European scientific and cultural activities with China.
The delegation visited the Baltic Campus of the University of Gdańsk, in particular admiring the state-of-the-art infrastructure of the experimental faculties. Initial plans were discussed to conduct a joint zero year for foreigners wishing to study at either university in English and Russian. The BSU staff are particularly interested in the UG’s experience with regard to tutoring and cooperation with employers. At present there are 105 Belarusian students at the University of Gdańsk.
On 23 September 2017 the University of Gdańsk will host 35 rectors of Chinese universities who will arrive in Gdańsk from Minsk accompanied by the Rector of the Belarusian State University in Minsk Prof. Sergey V. Ablameyko.
The agreement was signed on 26 June 2017 at the UG’s Rector’s Office.
