Welcome to Foreign Students
On 27 September 2017 the University of Gdańsk welcomed the first group of foreign students starting their studies in the 2017/2018 academic year. Our new students come from China, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Ukraine, Russia, and also from as far away as Brazil and Mexico.
The meeting was opened by the Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation Prof. Piotr Stepnowski. Employees of the Office of Research and International cooperation prepared presentations for the guests regarding the University of Gdańsk, procedures concerning foreign students, useful information about the UG Campus and the system of insurance and health care.
The meeting has initiated a whole series of events dedicated to foreign students at the UG, entitled “Orientation Programme for International Students”.
The programme includes library training, the UG Info-Point (individual meetings), a “Discover the City and the Region” coach tour of Gdańsk, a welcome party for foreign students of all Tri-City universities and a lecture on intercultural communication.
On 29 September 2017, the Erasmus+ students and other foreign students starting their studies at the University of Gdańsk took part in an integration party in the restaurant Wróblówka, organised in conjunction with other Tri-City universities. The event drew in over 600 foreign students who were welcomed by representatives of local and university authorities and university offices of international cooperation. The University of Gdańsk was represented by the Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation Prof. Piotr Stepnowski. UG students had the chance to meet students from other Tri-City universities, sample traditional Polish cuisine and discover the regional folklore.
