Faculty of Law and Administration Project ‘SEAPLANSPACE’ selected for funding by the Monitoring Committee of the EU’s Interreg South Baltic Programme 2014-2020
The international project entitled "SEAPLANSPACE − Marine spatial planning instruments for sustainable marine governance" will be implemented in cooperation with partners from Poland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Lithuania. The project aims to strengthen the competences of employees of administration and the private sector, as well as students and university graduates, in the area of marine spatial planning and sustainable marine governance. The implementation of the project is also connected with the necessity for EU states to develop and implement plans for the spatial development of marine areas by 2021. The objectives of the project will be accomplished through project Partners’ involvement in joint preparation of a training programme to be implemented in five countries, an English-language publication on international aspects of marine spatial planning, bilingual publications concerning the spatial development of marine areas and sustainable marine governance from the perspective of countries involved in the Project, as well as workshops for around 300 participants from Project member countries, and the launching and running of a web portal to assist the exchange of experiences and knowledge in relation to marine spatial planning.
The University of Gdańsk acts as Project Leader. The total budget of the SEAPLANSPACE Project is 1,684,656.95 EUR. Head of the Project is Dr hab. Dorota Pyć, associate professor from the UG’s Faculty of Law and Administration.
