EuroSymposium 2018 ─ On current challenges for global informatics and economics at the University of Gdańsk
The University of Gdańsk has hosted the annual, on this occasion the 11th EuroSymposium, organised at the Faculty of Management by the Department of Business Informatics and PLAIS (Polish Chapter of Association for Information Systems). The Chair of the International Programme Committee of the EuroSymposium2018 was Prof. Dr hab. Stanisław Wrycza, head of the department.
The subject of this year’s symposium, as usual conducted through the medium of English, was “Information Systems: Research, Development, Applications, Education”. Many presentations from all over the world were submitted to the event, with the competition being so fierce that the acceptance level was 38%, meaning that only one in three papers submitted was accepted. The speeches at the EuroSymposium, positively reviewed by an international panel, were delivered by researchers in the field of Business Informatics from China, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, the USA and Poland.
The symposium focused around the current challenges of global informatics and economics such as Big Data, Blockchain, modelling of business processes, architecture of informatics systems, the ERP and CRM systems, human-computer interaction, Industry 4.0, the Internet of Things, the SCRUM methodology in project management, UML, SysML and BPMN languages and many other important current issues in informatics and business.
A dinner party for participants was held at the Kashubian restaurant MÙLK in Miszewko, with the guests being entertained by a Kashubian ensemble.
