Agreement between UG and Gdańsk University of Technology on a unique, joint field of study

The University of Gdańsk and the Gdańsk University of Technology are to establish a joint interdisciplinary and unique field of study – Distributed Energy Resources, and have signed an agreement to this effect at the University of Gdańsk.

The agreement on the joint intention to establish and organise studies as part of an intercollegiate, interdisciplinary and unique field of study, Distributed Energy Resources, was signed at the University of Gdańsk on 29 November 2018. On behalf of the University of Gdańsk the agreement was signed by Dr hab. Anna Machnikowska, associate professor and Vice-Rector for Education, and on behalf of the Gdańsk University of Technology by Dr hab. Eng. Marek Dzida, associate professor and Vice-Rector for Education and Didactics.

Experts agree that distributed energy ensures a state’s energy security to a much greater degree than the centralised form. At the same time, the role of conventional energy is decreasing, with the participation and significance of renewable energy sources on the rise. Establishing the new course of study is therefore an answer to the needs of the development of a modern country.

The new field of study will be run by units designated by both universities and a joint programme of studies will be devised. Access to the best specialists and laboratories of the University of Gdańsk and the Gdańsk University of Technology will guarantee a high level of education.

Dr Beata Czechowska-Derkacz, UG Spokesperson
