Interdisciplinary and institutional knowledge transfer in the health care system

On 25 January 2019 an academic symposium was held at the Faculty of Management of the University of Gdańsk on the subject of challenges in health care. The event took the form of a platform where an exchange of knowledge, opinion and experience took place between the academic world, the creators of legal and economic solutions and health care practitioners. The debates were a moderated discussion involving representatives of various circles.

The symposium was attended by nearly 60 participants − scientists involved in the institutional issues in health care as well as practitioners – representatives of the management of the largest Pomeranian hospitals, Pomeranian National Health Fund authorities, representatives of the local governments and the Marshal’s office, Pomeranian members of parliament as well as rectors of Pomeranian universities.

The issues discussed included the financing of health care and the effective use of resources, managing health care units, problem solving in health care, employing effective legal models and cooperation between the academic world and practitioners (using research in managing health care).

The aim of the symposium was to disseminate knowledge of current issues in the field of health care through presenting the results of scientific research, opinion and experience as well as holding an interdisciplinary discussion of these issues with the participation of various circles involved in health care.

Organisers – Division of Managing Public Organisations of the University of Gdańsk in cooperation with the Development Programming Section of the Medical University of Gdańsk. Head of the symposium’s organising and scientific committee – Prof. Jarosław Waśniewski, University of Gdańsk.
