“Przystanek MAMA” on list of projects selected for funding from European Social Fund as part of POWER
Postnatal depression affects around 13 – 20% of women. Despite the fact that it is an important public and social health issue, there is a lack of opportunity for such care in Poland.
The aim of the competition by the Ministry of Health is to fill this gap by introducing postnatal depression prevention by providing screening tests and a chance to undergo treatment, which will, in the long-term perspective, reduce the negative impact of untreated depression on the job market.
The project is being implemented in a consortium with Copernicus Podmiot Leczniczy Sp. z o. o. and is to cover the northern macro-region with the Pomeranian, Kuyavian-Pomeranian and Warmian-Masurian Voivodeships.
The Project will involve:
1. education of primary care midwives and nurses in early detection of postnatal depression;
2. education and information campaign;
3. psychological consultations.
The Institute of Psychology of the University of Gdańsk, partner of the Project, is responsible for the educational component, including the preparation of the training programme together with material and documents to assess the effectiveness of the educational activities, participation in the Council – co-creation of a pilot project regarding the prevention of postnatal depression and didactic material for project participants (medical personnel), educational material for patients and their families, promotional material, preparation of guidelines regarding the recruitment of psychologists and mothers, guidelines on conducting three consultations for young mothers, content supervision of the website and internet forum, conducting statistical analyses regarding programme implementation ratio (percentage of women with increased results, monitoring of the mental state following the three consultations and indicators connected with long-term treatment).
The leader of the Project is Copernicus Podmiot Leczniczy Sp. z o.o. Gdańsk.
Head of the Project on behalf of the University of Gdańsk is Dr Magdalena Chrzan-Dętkoś from the Institute of Psychology of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
The University of Gdańsk budget is over 300,000 PLN.
