  • remove clothing that has come into contact with the suspicious substance,
  • after exposure to suspicious substances, do not eat, drink, or smoke,
  • wait for the authorities to arrive and follow their instructions.

If contamination has occurred in an open area:

  • go to the nearest enclosed building,
  • try to move perpendicular to the wind direction, and protect your airways (e.g., with a cloth or scarf),
  • allow other people from the danger zone into the building,
  • wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water – do not touch your face, eyes, or mouth with unwashed hands!
