HR Excellence in Research is a prestigious distinction awarded by the European Commission to research institutions that implement the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R). It signifies that the institution adheres to the highest standards in recruitment and working conditions for researchers, in accordance with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. This certificate enhances the institution's international attractiveness and facilitates the acquisition of research grants.

On 19.05.2015 UG Rector signes declaration of endorsement of the European Charter of Researchers and the Code of Conduct for Recruitment of Researchers.
On 18.04.2016 University of Gdańsk is awarded HR Excellence in Research logo.
In July 2022 following a successful audit by the European Commission the logo is extended for another 3 years.
