Study Abroad

About the programme

The aim of studying abroad in a host university within the Erasmus+ Programme is to partake in a course corresponding to the one studied at the mother university. This cannot assume only research, seeking materials for a thesis or writing it altogether.

It is not possible to carry out student mobilities and student traineeships simultaneously.

It is not possible to carry out mobilities during a dean’s leave.

Duration

For each day of the mobility, a subsidy of 1/30 of the monthly rate associated with a given country is awarded. The scholarship is mathematically rounded to whole numbers.

The length of mobility is dependent on the terms established in the interinstitutional agreement between the UG and the host university.

Possible durations are:

  • one trimester,
  • one semester,
  • whole academic year.

The maximum financed length of stay is 5 months = 150 days (one semester) or 10 months = 300 days (whole academic year).

When planning to participate in the programme, the candidate must take into consideration the total mobility capital, which consists of all study trips and traineeships carried out. In the case of bachelor's, supplementary or doctoral studies, it is 12 months, and in the case of long-cycle master's studies - 24 months.

Types of scholarships

Scholarship rates are set annually by the National Agency of the Erasmus+ Programme on the basis of European Committee guidelines and in consultation with national authorities.

The University of Gdansk cannot change the country grouping arrangements, nor can it create subgroups within a given group. Neither it is possible to increase the scholarship rate granted by the National Agency, even if the university funds are available.

Scholarship regulations

Students receiving funding from the Erasmus+ Programme are encouraged to have a bank account in EURO (€) because their financing is fully paid in this currency.

Only bank accounts established in banks covered by the protection of the Bank Guarantee Fund (BFG) will be accepted for making a transfer:

Entities Covered by Guarantees | BFG

Conditional possibility of transferring a grant to a bank not covered by the BFG guarantee requires prior consultation with the Erasmus+ Office (approx. 4 weeks before the mobility).

The scholarship is paid in two tranches. The first tranche constitutes approximately 80% of the total grant amount and is transferred to the Participant's bank account within 30 days from the date of signing the study scholarship agreement between the university and the Beneficiary, but no later than on the first day of the mobility. The remaining amount is paid after the formal settlement requirements are met in due time but within 30 days from the date of completing the settlement.

The amount of the scholarship is calculated in relation to the duration of the mobility as indicated in the Letter of Acceptance. This means that a longer stay will not increase the amount of co-financing, while a stay shortened (at least by 5 days than stated in the contract) will reduce the grant in proportion to the period reduced.

IMPORTANT! It is not possible to collect the grant in person, at the university's cash desk or at the bank branch maintaining UG accounts.

Extending the mobility

It is possible to extend the mobility beyond the period initially agreed on.

The maximum extension period is one semester or one trimester (if such division applies at the host university), and it must be in the same academic year.

Financing the extended mobility period depends on the use of student mobility funds allocated to the home university.
