WiFi on University of Gdańsk
Eduroam wireless network is available in all faculty and administrative buildings of University of Gdańsk, in dormitories 3,4,5,6,10 and 11 plus the reception desk of dormitory 7.
eduroam is an international project, which goal is to provide safe wireless connectivity.
This system is being developed on universities and other institutions all over the world. Maps of places that eduroam is available can be found on international eduroam webpage.
Connecting to eduroam means accepting the regulations of that service, available at https://www.eduroam.pl/Dokumenty/eduroam_users_v2_18_10_2013.pdf
University of Gdańsk collects information on user's connections (connection time, login, MAC address, IP address, computer name) and adresses they are connecting to (IP, port, service type, packet size). Additionally, our network block connections to p2p servers like BitTorrent.
Connection requires a device with Wi-Fi module supporting at least 802.11b/g (2.4GHz) or 802.11a (5Ghz) standards, capable of at least 11 Mbps with WPA2/AES and 802.11x authentication (WPA2-Enterprise EAP-TLS)
How to use eduroam?
People from other institutions that use eduroam:
- Students and faculty members should connect to eduroam just like they do in their home institution.
- Devices should connect automatically
People from schools that don't use eduroam:
- Students on exchange programs should have access to Student's Portal just like other students of UG:
- Login to Student's Portal
- Go to "WiFi network at the UG"
- Download your private certificate
- Use manual certificate installation
- Guests invited by University of Gdańsk can be provided access to UG_Guest network
- Guests should ask the head of the department that invited them to write a request to the Director of Computer Center (with guest's name, surname and period for which they will be staying).
- Connection only requires a login and password
- Other (visiting) students may be provided with access to UG_Guest network.
- Visiting students should write a request to eduroam@ug.edu.pl from their home university's e-mail account .

Employees on civil contracts do not have full access to Employee's Portal and should ask the head of their department to write a request to the Director of Computer Center (with employee's name, surname and period for which they will be working here)
