When can you move into a student hall of residence after receiving an allocation from the University Accommodation Committee?
Students who have been allocated a place in a student hall of residence do not need to confirm their intention to move in beforehand. They can move into the hall of residence on the basis of the valid allocation three days before the start of the academic year. A daily fee will be charged for these days, in accordance with the price list for accommodation in student halls of residence at the University of Gdańsk for the 2024/2025 academic year.
Who is entitled to priority in obtaining accommodation in a student hall of residence?
Priority is given to a UG student who simultaneously:
- is in a difficult financial situation
- whose daily commute to the university would make studying impossible or significantly difficult,
- who did not graduate with a master's degree in another field of study or from another university.
Who can live in a student hall of residence?
If the limit of places is not filled by students, they can also apply:
- UG doctoral students and employees,
- UG graduates up to 2 years after graduation,
- persons undergoing internships or scientific training at UG,
- students of other universities.
How to apply for a place in a student hall of residence?
Polish and foreign students continuing their studies apply electronically through the eUniversity portal, under scholarships and dormitories → apply for benefits → Student houses in the current semester
For foreign students starting their studies and Erasmus exchange students, places are reserved by the staff of the Cooperation and International Relations Office
Persons allowed to apply for a place in a student hall of residence who are unable to submit their application via eUczelnia should submit a paper application to the Department of Student Houses and Residence Halls (room 030,Polanki 66 Street - Student Hall of Residence no.4).
Can students from other Tri-City universities apply for a place in UG student halls of residence?
Students from other Tri-City universities can apply after the final admission round for University of Gdańsk students, if there are places available in student halls of residence, but not earlier than 20 October.
Applications should be submitted in person at the Student Halls of Residence and Assistant Hotels Department at room 030, Polanki 66 Street - Student Hall of Residence no.4 or by email to domystudenckie@ug.edu.pl
Who can apply for a place in a single room?
Students with a disability certificate or other certificate from a specialist doctor can apply for a place in a single room.
Accommodation in a student hall of residence and check-out
- Students check in in person at the administration office or reception of the assigned student hall of residence.
- When checking in, students are required to present proof of identity (ID card or passport).
- After check-in, students are issued a resident card, which allows them to be identified as residents of a specific student residence.
- Foreign students who do not have a Polish Card or residence card must present proof of payment of the deposit for inspection during check-in.
- Residents of the student residence whose accommodation period has expired should leave the student residence within 14 days or present the student residence administration with the consent of the University Accommodation Committee to extend their stay (applications should be submitted by email to domystudenckie@ug.edu.pl).
- No later than on the day of leaving the student residence, the resident is obliged to settle accounts with the student residence administration regarding the condition of the occupied room.
- The date of handing over the room must be agreed in advance with the student residence administration.
Furnishings and equipment in UG student halls of residence
Equipment in UG student halls of residence. Students have access to rooms furnished with: sofa(s), desk(s), wardrobe(s), chair(s), cabinet(s) and storage unit(s) ( furnishings may vary depending on the hall of residence).
Refrigerators are located directly in the rooms or in connecting rooms for use by residents of two rooms.
Each student residence has a communal kitchen equipped with a sink, cookers with ovens, cupboards and a table (equipment may vary depending on the student residence).
There are no small household appliances in the kitchens. Each student provides them on their own.
In addition, some student residences also have kitchenettes. In DS11, they are located in the rooms, and in DS5, DS10 and DS7, they are located in the connecting corridors for the use of residents of two rooms.
After moving into the room allocated by the administration, residents receive a duvet, blanket and pillow for use during their stay. Residents are required to bring their own bed linen (duvet cover, pillowcase and sheet).
Internet sockets are available in every room. WiFi is also available in the student halls located on the Baltic Campus. Internet access is possible after submitting a completed declaration to the IT Centre.
The halls of residence have laundry rooms equipped with washing machines that operate with tokens, which can be purchased at the reception desks of the halls of residence (token prices are listed in the price list).
How to apply for the summer holiday period?
Only the electronic application system via the eUniversity Portal applies.
In exceptional cases, those who do not have access to eUniversity may submit a paper application directly to the Department of Student and Staff Residence (room no. 30, UG Student Hall of Residence No. 4, Polanki 66 Street) or by email to domystudenckie@ug.edu.pl.
Motivated applications for a period of at least two weeks should be submitted with the attached justification for the stay (mandatory practice, employment contract, contract of mandate, certification of work for the University, certificate from a specialist doctor about ongoing treatment in the Tri-City area or surrounding areas)
Income certificates do not need to be attached to the application.
